DOVE SHOOTING 5-MIN AWAY FROM LODGE: ONLY AT LOS CHANARES

The Province of Cordoba, located in the very heart of Argentina, is acknowledged worldwide as the best place on earth to go dove hunting. The world-famous Macha Dove Roost is the biggest and most populated dove roost in the planet. Of the many outfitters operating in Cordoba, only one has a lodge strategically set deep inside this roost:FlyWays, with its one-of-a-kind Los Chanares. For dove hunters around the globe and especially for rival outfitters in Cordoba, Los Chanares is the world Mecca on dove hunting.

Doves at Los Chanares fly in pestilential congregations, almost uninterrupted throughout most of the year. You folks wanna know how many doves are flying across the skies of Northern Cordoba? Truth is that nobody knows for sure (estimates range from 20 to 50 million). Doves here are a most welcome plague, as they present the most exceptional dove shooting conditions anywhere in the world. Some 20 years ago, local farmers considered the doves a threat of the most intolerable sort. But with the arrival of thousands of hunters every year, they later came to regard the amount of birds as a blessing of the most precious sort, as shooters injected many thousands of dollars into the local economies – and local families – every year.

During the last 2 decades, the number of outfitters in the region helped create a ferocious competition, all of which helped to raise the bar on service and lodging. Doves are still counted in millions – or billions, but they have in recent years concentrated in smaller areas. This means that hunters must be extremely selective about which dove hunting operator they book with (otherwise, you might find yourself traveling long distances to have a sort of decent shooting round).

The abundance of birds is only possible simply due to a combination of circumstances: exceptional mild weather all year round, vast expansion of land with a mix of natural dove roost and planted wheat, sorghum and sunflower, the presence of surface water spread around the region, and very few natural predators.

Los Chanares’ former owner,Canadian successful businessmanMr Serge Dompierre, and also the current administrators and managers (FlyWays) have done the impossible to maximize the quantity of doves inside the property. Out of the nearly 2000 hectares of land, approximately 500 consist of natural dove roost (the Macha Dove Roost). These days, some 60 hectares are planted every year with wheat (during winter) and sunflower (during summer). Los Chanaressuccessful Game Management Program – the first of its kind in Cordoba – provides plenty of food –and water – for the doves. A sophisticated drip irrigation system was installed around many of the fields surrounding the lodge to provide the right amount of water to the crops, and to produce water ponds, all of which are vital for the natural cycle of the dove. The frequency of breeding is in direct proportion to the availability of food and water inside the property. In this way, Los Chanares became a huge dove magnet, drawing the birds from fields far and near, making this unique place the best lodge in the world for high-volume non-stop dove shooting action.

So now you know why of all the lodges in Cordoba, Los Chanares is the one that offers the best dove shooting experience. The reason is simply: no other lodge in Cordoba is as well located and so close to the fields as Los Chanares. The 5-min drives & 7-min walks to the fields are Los Chanares’ middle name!
